OSAT – All You Need Is Love Blog Ho

Good morning my friends stampers, and crafters, and welcome to this month’s One Stamp At A Time Blog hop.  This month the theme is All You Need Is Love (Love/Wedding Theme).   The theme this month could not have been more perfect, since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and we all need a little more love in our lives no matter what time of the year.  Each month each hopper creates a card and a 3d project to share with you.  And here’s a look at my project for this month’s hop.

layering-love

This month I went with projects that could actually go for both love and a wedding.   The projects that I created for this month’s hop would be great as a wedding favor or little gifts for the wedding party.   I used the Falling In Love Designer Series Paper on both projects.  This makes it so easy to create matching projects without a lot of fuss.

For my dimensional item I created a hexagonal box.

My little box measures 4 ¼” tall 3” in width, and 4” in depth.  The box starts with a 2” depth and the top goes up 2 more inches and flutes at the top.   This little box actually holds a lot of goodies, which is great for any occasion.  You can easily change up the color cardstock and designer series paper on this box to create a very different feel.

Simple but Big Meaning:

layering-love-card

The card that I created for this month’s hop uses the DSP as the main focal point on the card.   For the sentiment on my card I used the Layering Love stamp set from the 2016 Stampin’ Up! Annual catalog.

I created the stitched rectangle sentiment with one of the square stitched framelits from the Stitched Shapes framelits set, from Stampin’ Up!.  Sometimes it’s the small details that make the most impact on your cards.  And the stitched rectangle paired with the pattern on the Designer Series paper just makes this card a little special without a lot of fuss.

Day 3 of 9 Days of Sale-A-Bration featuring Stampin' Up! Moon Baby

Twinkle Twinkle little Star how I wonder what you are? Today I am showing you a star of the upcoming New Occasions Catalog which goes live January 4th. This shinning little star of a stamp set is a great set for all things babies. It is great for Baby Showers, babies births, or just a 1st birthday. I loved this set so much that I just had to have it. Moon Baby is a fun stamp set that goes great in anyone's collection I mean really who doesn't need stamps for babies. So I had to feature it in the Nine Days of Sale-A-Bration event. Here's a look at today's card.

Look how cute it is! Who would not fall in love with this stamp set.

It has some great little sentiments, that can be used for so many different types of Baby cards.

Tips and Tricks:

When coloring the images you can color it in so many different ways. This stamp set is great with many different coloring media. And, each will give you a different look. I picked the many marvelous markers to show you how they would work and what types of effects you can get from them. When I mention feathering in the video; it can give you the affect of different tones and values. To feather you want to have a very light touch and flick at the end this will give you a feathering effect.

Depending on how you color things it will give you a different effect. For example in the hair I did it two different ways. One i just outlined the hair and added just a few flicks of hair in the other I added more hair and colored it in more. Each gives a different look to each card.

You can change the colors of the color to create a different ethnic child, hair color, a boy, a girl, or gender neutral baby(if you don't know what the sex of the baby is).
To color the baby I prefer to use the pink pirouette stampin' write marker and a blender pen. I color the the outside of the image in and leaving a little white space where I want the highlight is. Next while the ink is still wet I take a blender pen and pull out the color into the white space this allows some of the ink to come out in a lighter shade. This also perseveres the highlight on the face. Depending on where your light source is the white space left will be different.

To finish off the card I stamped the twinkle twinkle little star sentiment in Basic Gray Archival ink on the little Foxy Designer series paper. This paper stack paired great with this card because it goes with the Foxy Friends stamp set that is also great for babies. The paper stack has some great colors in it for both neutral and gender specific babies. Here's another look at the card for today.
