Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 10: featuring the Needle & Thread Stamp Set

Needle & Thread Stamp Set, #simplestamping, Rick Adkins

Hello and welcome, I am going to share with you today yesterday's Saturday Simple Stamping card and video.  I do a Facebook Live on Saturday at 11 showing a Simple Stamping Project.  Simple stamping is all about using stamps ink and paper.  Sometimes you can not bet the look of a crisp stamped image on paper.  And if you have never stamped before or just getting into stamping:  All you have to have is just a stamp set, ink, and paper to create something beautiful.  This entire series is about helping people that have never or just getting into stamping to learn.

This month I am adding in a little designer series paper into each project.  Last month I added in a punch to some of the projects.  For February I will be doing a few different designs and using a couple different packs of designer series paper.  You will always find a list of products used at the bottom of the blog post; as well as a link to my online store.  Here's a look at this past Saturday's Card.

Tips & Tricks:

I started out with a piece of Gorgeous Grape Cardstock cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.  I stamped the flower images, and butterfly images on the card base in matching Gorgeous Grape ink.  I then added strips of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper (which you can earn for FREE with a $50 order in my online store.  I cut the designer series paper as followed.  (2) @ 3/4" x 5 1/4 and (1) @ 1/2" x 5 1/4.  I added the 1/2" x 5 1/4" piece first to make lining up the other two easier.  I added Snail adhesive to the back and attached it to the card base.  Next I repeated the process with the other two strips and made sure that the Highland Heather side was facing up.

I stamped the large flowers in Gorgeous Grape Classic Ink first.  Then I added the leaves in Granny Apple Green Ink.  I then stamped the sentiment, and moved onto the butterflies.  I did a stamped the butterflies using first, second, and third generation stamping.  All that really means is I stamped the butterflies three times without reinking the stamp to create three different ink tones.

For the inside of the card I added the birthday sentiment and stamped the large flowers with some of the leaves.  Just so you know you can line the leaves up to fit the flower where they look like they are behind the flowers by just turning the leaf stamp to fit.  It takes a couple turns but when you find the right way the leaves will just nestle in and fit perfectly.  This process is made really easy with the fact that the Needle & Thread Stamp Set is a photopolymer Set.

His Grace Basic Stampin' Blends Tutorial Video

His Grace Cling Mount Stamp Set, Rick Adkins, Stampin' Blends

Hello and welcome to my blog.  If you are on my WordPress blog you may be noticing some different things going on.  Just a little heads up I am in the process of changing over my blog to a different platform.  It's not ready yet but very soon I will release a update letting you know when the new blog is ready.  But, today I am sharing with you one of the cards that I created for my church to send out in January.  We have a new card ministry where I make a card each week.  And, it is passed around and everyone in the church that day will sign the card and we send it to a fellow church letting them know that we all are praying for them for the reason they have requested.  Each week its a different church in our organization.

For January I created two designs using the same stamp set.  I used the His Grace Cling Mount Stamp Set in the 2019 Occasions Catalog.  I also share in the video a few tips on basic Stampin' Blends coloring.  Here's a look at the card that I created.

Tips & Tricks:

The coloring for this card is really easy.  And, what makes it easier are the fact that Stampin' Blends only come in a light and dark tone.  This feature makes it super easy for people that have never colored before to achieve great results.  Just the two tones take out the guesswork from deciding what color to pick next.

I used only two colors to create this card.  When I set down to design this card for my church last month I needed a few things.  One, It had to be easy to create.  Two, It had to be quick coloring.  And, three it had to look good.   So by limiting the number of colors was the perfect way to go.  The His Grace stamp set was also the perfect choice because it had images that could be colored quickly and was church appropriate. Here's a look at the stamp set.

February Blogging Friends Blog Hop: CASE the Designer and Saleabration

Hello and welcome to this month's Blogging Friends Blog Hop!  This month we have a very special hop for you.  Not only are we all focusing on Saleabration products, but we have a very special guest hopper with us this month.  This month we have the very wonderful and talented Laura Borchert of Laura's Stamp Pad joining us.  I started watching Laura's YouTube Channel the year that I signed up (a little over 3 years ago) and loved her style and honest simple style.  Not to mention her love of flowers was a big draw since I have that same love.  Laura has been a demonstrator for about 14 years now and if you talked to her you would think that she had just started with her love and enthusiasm for the Stampin' Up!.  Her attitude is contagious and refreshing knowing that she has been a demonstrator for such a long time.  I got the opportunity to meet her in person in Orlando at OnStage in November.  And, I was super excited to talk to her a little while we stood in line to go into CenterStage.  We came very friendly and talked for awhile.  I was super excited to have her agree to hop with us this month.  During our conversation via Facebook after we got home from Orlando and I asked her if she would be interested in joining us we decided that she would hop with us in February and she already had a card for our theme and so we talked about her thoughts on adding to our theme this month and adding in the CASE the designer aspect.  And, she was super excited to do so and sent me a picture of her card right away.

If you don't know what CASE means; well it means COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING OR COPY AND SELECTIVELY EDIT.  As card makers and designers we do this sometimes when we find a design that we like, or want to recreate.  CASEing is a great way to improve your own design skills.  Here's the card that Laura sent me as part of our inspiration for this month's Hop.

Laura gave us a fun card to CASE for today's hop.  Here's a look at my card based on her's.

Home to Roost, Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper, Rick Adkins, Saleabration, Stampin' Up!

I used the Home to Roost Saleabration Stamp Set for my card, along with a piece of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  Both of which are Saleabration items and can be earned with each $50.00 purchase in my online store.  I replaced the embossed background from Laura's card with the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.  This allowed me to keep the texture but change it a little.  I then stamped the rooster from the Home to Roost Stamp Set on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with Stazon ink and used my watercolor pencils to color it in.  I then cut it out with one of the stitched circles from the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  After die cutting the image I stamped the grassy image on each side of the circle in Soft Sea Foam classic ink.

I added a large scalloped circle in Soft Sea Foam behind the rooster image.  I then added a piece of the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper cut at 5 1/4 x 4 to a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock (4 1/8 x 5 3/8).  I attached this piece to the card base which is in Cajun Craze (4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2).  Behind the rooster I added a fish tail banner in Calypso Coral.  Here's a look at the colors that I used for my card today.

This is one of those unexpected color combinations that you probably wouldn't think of right off the bat, but works very well together.  Both the Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze are in the red family on the color wheel and since Green is the complement of Reds it works wonderfully when paired together.

I hope that you have liked my card today, and that you have a fun hopping along with us for this month's hop.  You will find a full list of the supplies that I used for my card today below the blog roll.  If you view this post on my Wordpress site and not on my new blog the blog roll will be up shortly on it.
