April 2019 Paper Pumpkin Kit Sentimental Rose Alternative Projects (10 Cards with 1 Kit)

Hello and welcome to my Blog and YouTube Channel, today I am going to share with you a few alternative projects for the April Paper Pumpkin Kit.  This month's kit was called Sentimental Rose and featured our first distinktive stamp set in a Paper Pumpkin box.  I used just the stamp set from this month's kit a piece of 12 x 12 Whisper White Cardstock and five coordinating ink pads and cardstocks to create 10 different cards using just the stamp set in this month's kit.  Here's a look at all the cards.

So let's talk about the stamp set that came in the kit.  It features a large photopolymer rose stamp that is in the distinktive style of stamps (which means that its a photorealistic stamp).  It has all the different shading already detailed in the the stamp.  You also have great sentiments, and a lovely leaf image. You can see both on today's projects.

Tips & Tricks:

This month instead of cutting pieces of the kit apart to create the 10 alternative projects I wanted to focus on the distinktive stamp set instead.  So I used a piece of 12 x 12 Whisper White and created my own piece of designer series paper and then created a super easy one sheet wonder to create the cards.  I only had one small tiny piece of scrap left that I tossed; everything else went into making the cards.

In addition to the 12 x 12 piece of whisper white I used five coordinating pieces of cardstock (So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, and Gray Granite.  I also added a few scraps of whisper white to create the sentiments.  I created most of them to be thank you cards since I need them most, but did add a couple additional sentiments to the last two.

Each piece of cardstock was either scored at 4 1/4 or 5 1/2 depending on which way I wanted to make the card bases.  You all know there's basically two style card bases landscape (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4) or Portrait (4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2).  Most of you know that portrait style is my favorite and I tend to go to it more than most.  Here's a look at all ten cards that I made with the One Sheet Wonder Template above.

This is one of the things I like about card making you can get so much out of just a few products.  Plus using additional items or items from one of our kits makes it even easier.   Paper Pumpkin kits are a great way to go if you've never crafted before, or you don't have a lot of time to craft these monthly subscription kits are perfect.  They come with everything already to go.  And the great thing is they only take about 45 to a hour to put together.

I love them and I love showing you alternative ways to get more from your kits each month.  I hope that you are enjoying this series.  Next month's kit is a very special kit!  It's called Hugs from Shelli and was designed by Co Founder and board chair Shelli Gardner.  I got to do a make & take of this kit while I was at OnStage Charlotte, and what I got to see of it I loved.  If you missed that post you can click here to see it.
If you want to get this kit you have to sign up by May 10th; but I think that it may sell out before that date.   That has happened in the past for exclusive kits so this may just be one of them that does.   So all I am going to say is if you want this kit sign up now don't wait till the 10th because it may just be gone by then.  Thanks for dropping by.

Follow Your Art Suite Day 7 OnStage Sneak Peek Week

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share a really fun card that we made last weekend at OnStage Charlotte using the Follow Your Art Suite in the upcoming 2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  This catalog will release to customers in June.  I just wanted to share with you a little sneak peek at the make & takes that we made during the week.
This suite of products where designed with crafters in mind.  You have such fun images both in the stamp set and the designer series paper.  We used both on this make and take.  We will take a little closer look at some of the products a little further down in this post.

In the stamp set you have this wonderful stack of ribbon that has this wonderful ribbon heart coming off one spool.  This is such a great image to show how much you love crafting.   The images also have a lot of different craft tools in it that you create customized cards for any crafter.  The image below will give you a little look at what's in the suite.  There are some fun products inside.
You can see how using these products can lead to creating a wonderful card.  Or if you wanted to create a bunch of cards you could use the embellishment kit along with a set of note cards and stamp the sentiment and use the embellishments alone on the cards.  Place them back in the box and you have a great gift to give.  But that's a post for another time; I guess we need to be talking about the make & take I did right.
You all know if you follow me that I do love stamping the background of the card base sometimes and when we did this at OnStage it just made my heart sing.  I can't wait to play with this suite a little more.  Remember that these products I've been showing you this week are not available yet.  As a customer you want be able to get them until June; but if you join my Kinsmon Crafter Family you can preorder select products in May from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  If you are interested in doing so you can contact me and I will be happy to answer any questions or you can simply click here on the FAQ page on my website.
Thanks for dropping by today, I hope that you have a Happy Easter Holiday and I hope that you have enjoyed my little sneak peek of the make & takes we made at OnStage over the last weekend.

Rick's Saturday Simple Stamping Episode 20: featuring the All Good Things Stamp Set

Hello and welcome to my blog for the second post today; In this post we will be talking about this weeks Simple Stamping Card.  This week the retiring list was announced if you missed that post you can see it here.  Sadly on that list was the All Good Things Stamp Set, but also on that list was the 2017-2019 In Color Stampin' Write Markers.  I don't think a lot of people realize what you can do with the Stampin' Write Markers so for this weeks simple stamping card and video I wanted to show you one great technique that you can use these markers for.
Did you know that you could use them to stamp multiple colors on one image all at once?  If you are just starting out you may have not known this little trick.  This technique is a great way to get more bang for your buck.  You basically get five ink pads with just one small purchase.  I used all five of the out going in colors one this one image.  I did have to use one additional color to do the image.  In addition to the 2017-2019 In Colors was a Soft Suede marker for the tree trunk, this way it looks like a natural tree.  You can see exactly how I accomplished this in the video tutorial below.  Please remember that you may have to click here to see the video.  Some email servers will not show the embedded video.

Tips & Tricks:

I colored the image in all the colors all at once and then I huffed (a couple deep breaths) onto the inked up image to remoisten the ink on the stamp.  By doing this it will allow you to get a nice impression each time.  The warmth of your breath helps the ink to moisten back which allows it to transfer.
When you first start stamping you may want to do a image just like this but you don't own a stamp positioner, or you may not have all the ink pads.  You probably only own a few supplies so the Stampin' Write Markers are a great addition to add to your collection.   Because, you can get them and you have every color of ink in this small slender tube.  Plus another great thing is you can purchase them all at once in the Many Marvelous Marker set or you can also buy them in color family for a little cheaper price up front.  And for some beginning stampers this is very important.  The in color families always come out in new sets of five every year.  Each group is out for two years before they are retired.  This year the leaving colors are the 2017-2019 In Colors (Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide, Powder Pink, and Fresh Fig).  They will probably sale fast since they have been on the retiring list and they are very popular colors.

This is one of the best things for new stampers to learn because it will open up a whole new world for your crafting and stamping.  I also used the whisper white note cards to produce today's simple stamping card.
Thanks for dropping by today for this weeks Simple Stamping Episode.  I hope that you found some information and that this has helped you.  You will find a full list of the supplies that I used today in the list below.
