Stampers Showcase October Blog Hop: It's Fall Y'all

Hello and welcome to my second post today; I am sharing a project for the Stampers Showcase October Blog Hop.  The theme this month is It's Fall Y'all.  I have created a fun Fall themed card using the Gather together stamp set.  Here's a look at my card.
I started may card by stamping the large leaf image from the Gather Together Stamp set over and over masking each time on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  Once I had all the leaves stamped felling up the entire piece of cardstock, I started coloring each of them using my Polychromos Colored Pencils.  I think that color pencils look better on darker color cardstocks.
I started each leaf the same way.  I started coloring with my white pencil and then added in other colors.  I always start out with a light hand and build up layer by layer and eventually getting heavy with the pigment of the pencil to fill in the tooth of the paper.  By starting out with a very light hand I can build up multiple layers overlapping the colors letting the colors underneath show through the layers on top.  This is called glazing.  Once I start pressing firmer on the pencils this starts to blend the colors.  You can also use a blending pencil to do this once you have all your colors laid down.  Because with the blending pencil it puts a coating on top of the pencils and doesn't allow for more pigment to be added.
With all the leaves colored I added the crumb cake piece to a piece of whisper white cardstock that was cut at 5 3/8 x 4 1/8.  I then added the focal image to my card base made out of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I added a pumpkin pie banner and a sentiment banner to the front of the card.  I added some gold sequins to finish off my card.

Stampers Showcase April Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to this month's Stampers Showcase Blog Hop.  This month our theme is Spring/Floral.  So I had one card made and ready to go but really didn't like it.  So after a lot of thinking about showing it or not last night about 7:30 I decided to scrap the original card and go with something completely different.  So for my new card for today's blog hop I went with a new set that will be coming in the 2019 Annual Catalog but paired it with some retiring favorites and some things that are carrying over as well.  I picked the new Bloom & Grow stamp set and matching dies to do my card.  Here's a look at my card.
The Bloom & Grow stamp set is a wonderful floral themed set that has three different large floral images along with wonderful sentiments.  The matching dies not only cuts out the flower sprays but there are two dies that cut out two openings that allow you to stick the sprays into.  I stamped the sprays in memento tuxedo black ink so that I could use my Stampin' Blends to color the sprays.
For the coloring I used Lovely Lipstick, Highland Heather, Mango Melody, Pineapple Punch, and Call Me Clover Stampin' Blends in light and dark.  Once I had them colored I cut them out using the matching dies. My card base is a piece of Mango Melody (4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2).  I added a piece of whisper white that was cut at 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 to which I added a piece of Lovely Lipstick DSP (4 x 5 1/4).  I stamped my sentiment in Versamark and used the 2018-2020 In Color embossing powder in Lovely Lipstick (which is on the retiring list) and them embossed it with my Heat Tool.  I added this strip between each floral spray and added a few rhinestones just to add a little sparkle.
Thanks for dropping by I hope that you have enjoyed my card today.  I hope that you have fun hopping along with the rest of the hoppers today.  Sue Vine from Australia is next on the hop today so I hope that you hop on over there and check out what she has created for this month's hop.  I know it's going to be great.

Stampers Showcase Birthday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you my project for this month's Stampers Showcase Blog Hop.  The theme for this month's hop is Birthdays, and I think I have a really cute project for you.  I used the Humming Along Bundle for my project along with a little ink blending and Stampin' blend coloring.  Here's a look at my card.
I used the Humming Along Bundle like I side before.  Which is probably one of the most Spring filled bundle in the Occasions Catalog.  It contains the Humming Along Cling Mount Stamp Set and the Hummingbird Framelit Dies at a 10% discount.  The Humming Along stamp set contains a pretty hummingbird stamp and a beautiful hibiscus stamp among a few others.  The stamped images are designed so that you can use your favorite color media.  Then when you pair that with the matching framelits you come up with the perfect combination.

Tips & Tricks:

  • I started my card off my using one of the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and a little ink blending on a piece of whisper white cardstock (4 x 5 1/4).  I picked the one that had the little diamonds in it because it looked like lattice work once I had the ink blending done.  For the ink blending I used Calypso Coral and a little Pineapple Punch ink.
  • Once I had the ink blending completed it was time to do a little stamping.
  • I stamped the hummingbird, hibiscus, and a couple extra leaves in tuxedo black ink.  I knew I was going to be doing a little stampin' blend coloring so I needed a alcohol friendly ink to do that.
  • I started out the coloring with the hibiscus.  For the flower I used Calypso Coral (light and dark) starting in the center working my way out in a flicking motion.  Next I added just a little pumpkin pie light in the same manner.  I worked out to the edges with petal pink combo pack flicking both light and dark colors into the center from the edge of the flower.  I repeated this process for each petal.  I colored the leaves and steam with pineapple punch and granny apple green.

  • Next it was time to color the hummingbird.  I used the following colors to do so; Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Highland Heather, Pineapple Punch, Calypso Coral.
  • I stamped the sentiment from the set on a piece of whisper white scrap and then used the matching framelits and cut out the sentiment.
  • I added dimensionals behind the flower and added just a little multipurpose liquid glue on the stem.  I added double dimensionals behind the hummingbird so that it was popped up a little more than the flower.  I added the sentiment with a couple dimensionals.
I hope that you have enjoyed my project for this month's blog hop.  If you need any of the supplies that you have seen today you can pick them up in my online store 24/7.  You will find a full list of the supplies that I used in the Stampin' Up!
