Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you the card that I made for this week's challenge over at the Spot. This week we are hosting a theme challenge and I will share with you the inspiration image for that as well as the link to the challenge so that you can play along and check out what the other design team members came up with. I used the Flight of Fancy Stamp Set for my card today, as well as the bat dies from the Halloween Magic Dies. Here's a look at my card.
Here is a look at this week's challenge image that inspired my card.
Tips & Tricks:
I started out my card today by doing a stamping the little witch image from the Flight of Fancy Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink. I then stamped it on some masking paper and cut it out. I masked over the stamped image which by the way was stamped on Whisper White Cardstock. Once I had the image masked I did some ink blending to create the background.
I started out my ink blending with the lightest of my four colors. I started with Seaside Spray Ink in the center of the panel with a ink blending tool. My favorite ink blending tool are makeup brushes, but you could use a Stampin' Sponge. I used Stampin' Sponges for years until I found the make up brushes. I then moved on to the next darkest color which was Misty Moonlight, then to Night of Navy. I finished off the ink blending with just a little Blackberry Bliss around the edges.
After I had all my ink blending done I removed the masks and hit it with my Heat Tool to make sure the ink was dry before I stamped coloring with my Stampin' Blends. Once it was dry enough; I started coloring in the image of the little witch on her broom with my Blends. I used the light and dark of all the colors in the following Stampin' Blends; Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, Soft Suede, Mango Melody, Gray Granite, and Daffodil Delight. I colored her dress and hat with Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss, and added in the Mango Melody Stars. I started with my lightest color and filled in the entire areas. Next I used my darkest color and blended it out with the next lightest color and moved on until I had a nice blend.
I colored her broom handle with Soft Suede and added a little shadow underneath where she was sitting. For the broom straw I used a combination of Soft Suede and Daffodil Delight Blends. I used the Daffodil Delight to color in the moon. Her little mouse I colored him with just some Gray Granite. I used a combination of Bronze and Ivory Stampin' Blends for her skin. I used the Bronze as my shadow color and blended it out with the Ivory.
Once all my coloring was complete I trimmed down my panel and added it to a Blackberry Bliss mat, and I layered the card front onto a piece of the Magic In This Night Designer Series Paper. I picked the piece that had all the bats on it. I then layered this onto my Thick Whisper White Card base. For a little extra I die cut the five bats from the Halloween Magic Dies from Black Glitter Paper and attached them to the front and the inside of the card. I also stamped Happy Halloween on the inside from the Hallows Night Magic Stamp Set to finish off my card. Thanks for dropping by today I hope you have a wonderful day and I hope that you play along with us this week over at The Spot.
