Saturday Simple Stamping: #35 Christmas Gleaming

Hello and welcome to this weeks Saturday Simple Stamping Episode.  This week we are making a card using the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set from the 2019 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  I decided to make a simple Christmas Card for you today using just stamps, ink, paper and the matching Gleaming Ornament Punches from this suite.  You will find this suite on pages 30 through 32.  You can get both the Christmas Gleaming Stamp Set and matching Gleaming Ornament Punches in a cost saving bundle when you order them using this item #153006.  Here's a look at today's project.

Tips & Tricks: 

For my card today I used a piece of Real Red Cardstock cut at 4 1/4 x 11 scored at 5 1/2 as my card base.  I stamped the large ornament from the stamp set in Real Red ink all around the card base.  I then took a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and stamped the two large ornaments and the small in Crushed Curry, Garden Green, and Real Red ink around this piece to create the card front.  I added in the little dot textured stamp from the stamp set in the open spaces around the card.  I made sure that the ornaments where all staggered around the very vanilla card front.  That way it gives you visual interest on the card.   

Once I had that stamping done I added the very vanilla to the card front using Snail Adhesive.  I then added a strip of Real Red Cardstock that I made into a fish tail banner .  I stamped one of the large ornaments and one of the small and punched them out using the matching Gleaming ornament punches and popped them on my card with a couple dimensionals.  I then stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo black ink on a scrap of Real Red cardstock and trimmed it out using my snips.  Since this image has a bold outline and open lettering it allows the colors of the letters to be real red with the outline being black.

Christmas Gleaming Gap Card

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a Gap Card.  Actually I am going to share with you a couple examples of Gap Cards.  These fun cards can be made a lot of different ways once you get the basics.  These types of cards are also a great way to spice up your card designs.  For today's cards I used products from the Brightly Gleaming Suite.  This is a well gleaming beautiful suite of products that feature accents with copper through out.  Here's a look at my card.

As I mentioned above Gap Cards can be very exciting once you figure out the measurements to make them work out just right.  But once you do one of the things you have to remember is that before you add your bridge (pieces that hold the two parts of the cards together) to the cards make sure you add your designer series paper first.  You will see what I am talking about when you watch the video tutorial.  But, as I always tell you everything is fixable.

Once you figure out the measurements the next thing is to add your bridge.  I like to put one my focal image on the front, just doing the one section on isn't enough.  The cards are very unstable with just the one layer.  If you add a stabilize to the inside of the card this makes the card so much stronger.
One thing about Gap Cards is you can bridge that gap anyway you want.  You can put anything in between the gaps as long as it reaches between each part.  Think of the possibilities.

As I mentioned before once you figure out how to create these types of cards you can figure out how to do them in different ways.  Here' I have created two different gap cards to share with you.  The first one is done the same way as the one that I show in the video, but I used different elements on the card.  I used a couple circle punches for the sentiment; which by the way is the bridge on the card.  I have one of the large ornaments hanging down from the top section and barely touching the bottom part.  To add more stability to the card I added a second bridge to the back of the ornament.  I added a third ornament closer toward the top of the card.  Here's the first one. 

For the third gap card I cut the gap in a diagonal opening.  Which makes for a super fun version of the gap card technique.  I went from the top corner of the card down.  This created two triangles for the base of the card.  I bridged the gap with a 2" circle with the holly leaves and berries stamped in tuxedo black ink and then colored it with blends.  I added a copper starburst punch behind the 2" circle.  I added the same copper starburst to the inside.
