Stack Cut & Shuffle Card Technique - Whimsical Trees Video Tutorial
Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you some cards that cards that I made on Sunday afternoon in about an hour. I made twelve cards using the products in the Whimsy & Wonder Suite Collection. I used a fun technique to create a stack of cards in a short amount of time.
I used the Stack, Cut & Shuffle Card Technique to create each set of cards. I will explain how to create the cards and the technique below.
Tips & Tricks:
To start off you will need two sheets of colored cardstock that coordinates with your designer series paper of choice. You will need four sheets of designer series paper, I used the Whimsy & Wonder Speciality Designer Series Paper on all my cards, cut at 4" x 5 1/4". And a sheet of Basic White Cardstock for the inside of the cards. You will also need some scraps for the sentiments, and layering. I used four 1 1/2" Basic White circles (for sentiments) and four 1 3/4" Mint Macaron circles (for layering).
For this card design you will stack all four sheets of Whimsy & Wonder Speciality Designer Series Paper together. Once you have them all stacked it's time to cut them. You will make the first cut at 2 3/4" on the 4" side. Turn the 2 3/4" x 5 1/4" DSP to the 5 1/4" side and cut at 3". Place these two stacks to the side and leave them in the same direction as shown in the video. Take the small strip and cut on the 5 1/4" side then cut at 2".
Video Tutorial:
Once you have all the pieces cut you are going to Shuffle! Take the 2" strip and shuffle the top piece to the back. Move clockwise to the next stack and you are going to shuffle two pieces of DSP to the bottom. Move to the next section clockwise and shuffle the top three pieces of DSP to the bottom. The rest is simple you just have to attach all the DSP in a Patchwork pattern to each card base.
You can cut your colored cardstock to either 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" or 4 1/4" x 11". Now if you decide that you want to add your patchwork pattern to a mat layer you will want to change the size of the DSP to 3 3/4" x 5". That means that your cuts will be different as well, but the rest of the technique will be the same. The cuts for this size is: The first cutis at 2 1/2", turn and cut at 2 3/4". The small section is cut at 1 3/4" on the 5" side. Here's a look at this card design.
