Hello and welcome to my blog; today is my day for this weeks 3D Thursday project. This time around I have created a festive Christmas Lantern Ornament that will hold a battery operated Tea Light. As will all 3D Thursday posts we have a free pdf for you to download as well.
Christmas Lantern:
This is actually not as hard of a project as it looks. This project takes one entire piece plus a little extra of Basic Black Cardstock; along with a little Vellum Cardstock, and Shaded Spruce Cardstock and Just Jade Cardstock. The window opening for the lantern were created with the snowflake die from the Giving Gifts Dies.
One major tip that I have for you to create the openings is that you will have to fold up the bottom flaps over the die before running it through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine.
To get the tealight into the back of the lantern once it's created you will need to remove one of the snowflake die cuts from one of the openings on the back. I just used my Paper Snips to cut out what I didn't need.
To create the decorations on the top I used a 1/4 sheet of Shaded Spruce Cardstock and Just Jade Cardstock. The pinecones were cut from scraps of Crumb Cake Cardstock and Early Espresso Cardstock. I used the Christmas Pinecone Dies to cut it all out. I cut each of the pine boughs in to different pieces so that I could add them to the top of the lantern.
I finished off the decorations by adding a bow made from Real Red 3/8" Double Stitched Satin Ribbon along with a few Gold Holly Leaves and a few Wonderful Gems.
