Hello and welcome to my blog; today I have a fun video tutorial for you showing you how to create a Double Dutch Door Fun Fold Card from only one sheet of cardstock. I made this card last night during my weekly YouTube Live. I used the Little Delights Stamp Set from the July-December Mini Catalog. Here's a look at the card we made during the Live.
As I mentioned I just shared how to create the Double Dutch Door Fun Fold Card from one sheet of cardstock last night during my live. All the ones that I had found online when I decided I wanted to make one used two pieces of cardstocks and had weird measurements and score lines and all that. Well I just didn't want any part of all that. So, I sat down and figured out how to make it from one sheet.
Tips & Tricks:
So to start out making this card I used a 9" x 8 1/2" piece of Misty Moonlight Cardstock. I scored the cardstock on the 8 1/2" side at 2 1/8" on both sides and then turned it on the 9" side and scored at 5 1/2". Then I scored it again at the bottom at 2 1/8" connecting the score line and then moving the to other score line and scored the rest of the way to make the two bottom doors. If you watch the video it will make more scene to you am I sure. Then I removed the two side portions at the top with my Paper Trimmer. You could use a pair of shears for this also but honestly I found it easier to put it back in the Paper Trimmer at 2 1/8" on both sides and cut down to the score second score line.
Next I folded and burnished all the score lines with my Bone Folder. I will say that you do want to make sure that you have all your lines nice and crisp so that the card opens and closes easily and everything is lined up perfectly. That will insure that your Dutch doors open and look pretty. At this point I could start building up my layers. For the mat layers you will need one 3 1/4" x 4" piece of Brushed Metallic Cardstock and two 2" x 2" pieces of the same Brushed Metallic Cardstock. I went with the Brushed Metallic Cardstock to add a little more shine to the card because I wanted to keep it pretty simple. For the DSP layers I picked the Harvest Meadows Designer Series Paper for its natural floral and botanical imagery along with background patterns that set the stage for beautiful Fall creative projects.
I cut the Harvest Meadows Designer Series Paper to 3" x 3 3/4" and two pieces at 1 3/4" x 1 3/4". Because I was attaching the DSP to the Brushed Metallic Cardstock I used Stampin' Seal adhesive and then used my Multipurpose Liquid Glue to attach it to the card base. This allowed me to not have extra liquid adhesive come out of the side of the DSP and get on the beautiful metallic finish of the Brushed Metallic Cardstock and make it dull looking.
Video Tutorial:
To finish off the card I used the Little Delights Stamp Set for the images and sentiment. If you are looking for a stamp set that comes with a variety of sentiments perfect for different holidays and occasions? The Little Delights Stamp Set is for you! This is a wonderful all-holiday set with playful imagery and sentiments that can be used for lots of occasions such as birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, or even thank you cards. Its solid images are made for quick stamping. making it easy for card making, and the set can make wonderful treat packaging or gift tags too! Get it now! I stamped the sentiment in Misty Moonlight Classic Ink onto a stitched scalloped rectangle cut from Basic White Cardstock. I then added one of the floral images from the stamp set onto the edge of the die cut and the inside layer. I stamped them in Cinnamon Cider Classic Ink in both places.
I did add a few extra touched to finish the card after adding the sentiment layer with Stampin' Dimensionals. I added a few leaves and an acorn punched from the same Brushed Metallic Cardstock as the mat layers. I used the punches from the Autumn Punch Pack that came out last Fall but is currently on the Clearance Rack as of this post. These little accents allowed me to just keep with the Fall theme for this Birthday Card. Then I finished it off by adding a few of the Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots sprinkled around the card.
