Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with another card based off of a card sketch. Card sketches are a great way to jump start your creativity as well as make your creative lives easier. For this weeks card sketch I came up with a fun little versatile design that can be used for so many different creations. Here's a look at my card inspired by my card sketch.
For this sketch I used the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set along with some other fun products in a fun new way.
Card Sketch:
So, are you wondering what card sketches are? If you have been around the cardmaking/papercrafting world I am sure you have heard of them. You can define card sketches as design templates/ layouts for greeting cards. You can use them as a guide to aid you in your creative journey. They are great for using up extra supplies, scraps, or to explore your supplies.
Here's a look at the card that I created from the sketch side by side. I used all the same measurements for my card that I did to create the card sketch. Instead of a circle I used the large hibiscus from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set. I stamped it in Pale Papaya Ink and used my Wink-of-Stella Clear Brush Pen to add a little more shadowing by pulling out some of the ink from the shadow area of the stamped image. I also added a mixture of Balmy Blue and Pale Papaya Ink to create a deeper shadow around the center of the flower. I then cut it out and added my sentiment onto a strip of Basic White Cardstock stamped in Balmy Blue Ink.
I took a piece of Old Olive Cardstock and cut it to the 5 1/4" x 4" and placed it on my card base which was a piece of Balmy Blue Cardstock. I then added a strip of Bloom Where You're Planted Designer Series Paper to the left hand side of the card front. I also added a strip of Balmy Blue Cardstock to the center part of the card. I then came back and added the same size strip of Vellum Cardstock that I embossed with the Animal Print Embossing Folder. I attached the vellum piece with a couple Mini Glue Dots.
I finished off the card by adding a few of the clear gems from the Elegant Faceted Gems sprinkled around the card. The large hibiscus was popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals as well as the sentiment. I hope that this new series will help inspire your creative flow and you will give them a try. If you do use the #saturdaysketchchallenge so that I can see what you created with the sketch. I would love to see you cards.
