Hello and welcome to my blog; today I wanted to share with you a cute idea for a desktop memo board using the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper, Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set an inexpensive frame and notebook from the Dollar Store and some a little backing from either a Paper Pumpkin Kit or cardboard backing from some DSP. Here's a look at the finished project.
Dress Up the Simple:
To create this standing desktop memo board I used a inexpensive frame from the Dollar Store, some chipboard backing from either a Paper Pumpkin Kit or some DSP, and a piece of the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper. I started off by removing the plastic from the frame. I then removed the glass and sat it aside (the glass will go back into the frame once done for more stability). I then cut down a piece of chipboard to the size of the inside picture for the frame. I used a frame that would fit a 5" x 7" photograph. So, I cut the chipboard, which you can recycle from a Paper Pumpkin Kit or the backing from a pack of Designer Series Paper).
I then added a piece of the Hand Penned Designer Series Paper down to the same size as the chipboard and glued them together with Tear & Tape Adhesive (you could also use Stampin' Seal+ for this but I found the Tear & Tape easier). I then added it back into the frame, placed everything that came in the frame back behind it and added the cardboard that came inside the frame and closed it up. I then stamped two of the bird houses from the Garden Birdhouses Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Ink onto Basic White Cardstock and colored them with my Stampin' Blends. I cut them out with my Paper Snips and glued them to the designer series paper with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I then used my heavy duty cutter to cut down the note pad that I picked up at the Dollar Store to the size that I wanted and stamped a sentiment at the top of a few pages and a birdhouse as well. I picked Highland Heather Ink since it matched my designer series paper and my yellow legal pad as well. and attached it to the memo board with Tear & Tape. Then it's just a matter of placing it on your desk and you are set.
