Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you a card that I made for this weeks creative challenge over at the spot using a fun inking and die cut inlaid technique. I used the Blossoms in Bloom Stamp Set and matching dies to create my card.
This is the second time I've started todays blog post. I made one card using what I thought was the right color combination. Only to find out once I sat down to write the blog post and got half way through and realized that I used a wrong color. So, last night at 10:30 pm I headed back out to the studio to create a card with the right color combination.
Color Challenge:
Before I get into the details about my card I want to share with you about this weeks creative challenge at the Spot. This week's challenge is a color challenge with a fun set of colors. This weeks color challenge showcases a 2021-2023 In Color (Fresh Freesia), 2020-2022 In Color (Magenta Madness) and a Core Color (Granny Apple Green). Here's a look at the challenge card that inspired the color combination for my card.
You can click on the challenge image to check out what the other design team members came up with or play along with us this week.
Instead of cutting all the die cuts in different color cardstocks. I cut them once from Basic White Cardstock and used my Gel Press and my inks to color the white cardstock die cut pieces. I used Granny Apple Green, Fresh Freesia, and Magenta Madness Inks to color with my Gel Press. I then placed the outline down onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel of Basic White with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and added all the inlaid pieces like a puzzle. Some of the pieces like the inlaids of the leaves I colored twice to get a slightly darker color.
I then heat embossed my sentiment from the Blossoms In Blooms Stamp Set with the white embossing powder from the Basics Embossing Powders collection onto a piece of Fresh Freesia Cardstock I added Basic Pearls to the center off all the large flowers and colored a few bigger pearls with my Dark Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blend before adding them to the smaller flowers.
