Hello and welcome to my blog; today I have a card for you using this week's sketch from The Spot Challenge Blog. For this sketch I used the Dragonfly Garden Bundle from the 2021 Stampin' Up! January - June Mini Catalog. Let's check out the card and more on the sketch in just a little while.
Tips & Tricks:
I had so much fun making this card and playing with all the different patterns in the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper. Once I started playing with it I thought that the Natural Touch Speciality Paper would add a very special touch to the card (no pun intended). The Natural Touch Specialty Paper allows you to add lovely texture to your creations. The pale woodgrain is versatile enough for any project and any time of year. You can emboss it, use it with dies, or create a very interesting look by stamping on the side that has the woodgrain texture.

I thought that the stamped image looked very wood cut like once I did it. I think that it would look really like a wood cut if I changed the ink color to more of a neutral hue. I love the large pieces of it that I stamped on as part of the background; you could even cut out pieces to use as accents. I do need to remind you that the Natural Touch Speciality Paper is only available while supplies last.
The star of my card the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper allows you to immerse yourself in nature. The Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper is a 6" x 6" (15.2 x 15.2 cm) paper stack and you get 48 sheets inside with 4 each of 12 double sided designs. So, you will have plenty to play with. In the designs you'll see dragonflies, bees, foliage, and more--all guaranteed to bring a natural look to your projects and designs. This papercrafting staple is great scrapbook paper, card making paper, and more so make sure that you put a pack or two in your shopping cart to have on hand! Most of the time designer series paper doesn't carry over when we get a new catalog, so it's better to stock up on it if this is a pack that you are in love with. I used two of the designs today on my card.
I stamped my dragonfly in Calypso Coral Ink and used my ink pads and the Wink of Stella Clear Brush Pen to give it a watercolor look. This is the way I love to use this glitter filled brush pen. Plus the glitter doesn't get all over the place like the Dazzling Diamond Glitter used to. FYI I am still finding loose glitter all over the place in my studio, because of it. If you notice on the dragonfly I was able to get different values in the body and wings. I achieved this by letting the areas dry before adding more pigment.
