Die Cut Butterfly Ombre Background - Many Messages

Hello and welcome to my blog; today I am going to share with you two cards using the butterfly Ombre background that I gave everyone a sneak peek of on Tuesday, during my Facebook Live.  The technique that I used today to create the background panel on my card is a great way to use up some of your scrap cardstock you may have.  Here's a look at the two cards that I created using this one technique.

I love a technique that you can do and then create more than one card with it.  I used the Many Messages Bundle for the sentiment and the Floating & Fluttering Bundle for the images and die cuts along with a little ink blending to create the background. To start off you are going to want to do all the die cutting for your background.  I cut all the butterflies and leaves from the Fluttering Dies from Highland Heather and glued them down to my Highland Heather panel.  I then used my White Craft Ink to ink blend the top in the white pigment ink and then used Gorgeous Grape Ink to blend on some darker color on the other end to create the ombre background.

After everything was dry I cut the card front panel in half on the diagonal and added one at the top and one at the bottom of two Basic White Thick card bases.  To add a little separation and definition to each card I added then strips of Brass Foil Sheets and Basic Black Cardstock.  To the card above I also added a strip of Purple Posy Cardstock for a little extra color.

For both cards I added sentiments from the Many Messages Stamp Set that I had heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock and used the Messages Dies to cut out. I added them to the card with either Multipurpose Liquid Glue or Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the focal point of each card I stamped one of the images from the Floating & Fluttering Stamp Set in Gorgeous Grape Ink onto a scrap of Purple Posy Cardstock and then cut them all out using the Fluttering Dies.  I then cut some of the images apart to add just one butterfly to the card below in a stitched oval (using the Stitched Shapes Dies) and to the one above I added the cluster of butterflies and leaves but I also took one of the single butterflies I snipped from one of the die cuts and added it onto the large one in the cluster with Stampin' Dimensionals.  This added a little more dimension to the card.

To add just a little more to the card with the single butterfly in the stitched oval I added a few Matte Black Dots to tie in the Basic Black a little more.  For the second card I had added a strip of Purple Posy Cardstock to tie in the Purple Posy.  I like to try to have the colors repeat on my designs at least three times to add visual interest to the card.
